Judith Scull

Judith ScullJudith began painting at the age of fifteen while at Cathedral High School in Trenton, NJ and continued taking art through high school. She spent three years studying illustration and painting at Moore College of Art in Philadelphia, Pa. There she studied oils with Doyla Goutman ( woodmere artmuseum.org),and watercolorist Ranulph Bayeux Bye (michnerartmuseum.org). Later in the decade Judith completed her BA and MA at Glassboro State College, in Art Education. There she studied with printmaker Herbert J. Appelson (The Cheltenham Printmakers Guild), fabric designer Kumiko Murashima (prabook.com) and painter Joseph Tishler( rowanmagazine.com).

Judith spent twenty-nine of her teaching and supervising years in the Bridgeton Public Schools in Bridgeton, New Jersey retiring in 2003. Her range of teaching art spans kindergarten thru first year of college at Cumberland County College, in Vineland, New Jersey.

Judith served as the past President of the Society of New Jersey Artists, from 2010 – 2014. SNJA is a group of about seventy painters that exhibit together in South Jersey and have been in existence since 1948. The website is: www.snja.net.

Recently, Judith was the Chairperson of the Exhibit Committee at the Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts in Millville, New Jersey. As an Associate Artist at The Riverfront Renaissance Center in Millville, RRCA and Gallery 50 in Bridgeton, New Jersey, are favorite place for Judith to exhibit.

Having entered the New Jersey Older Citizens Art Show in the last five years, Judith has one First Place in 2011 for pastel and Third Place in 2013 for watercolor at the State level. To be in this show at the State level one must win First place in their home County.

For the past three years Judith has studied with Marie Natale, a well-respected New Jersey watercolorist and NJWS member. Recently Judith has taken workshops with Al Gury of PAFA , Ken Hamilton, President of the NJWS, Mel Stabin, AWS, and NWS, and Nannette Noon, PWS.

Judith’s goal is to continue to learn and grow as an artist through study and work.
