As a resident of Southern New Jersey, I have the good fortune of being surrounded by beautiful shore lines, rich farm lands and picturesque towns. These diverse landscapes allow me, as a regional artist, great opportunities to draw upon for much of my work. My goal in painting is to recapture my initial feeling for a subject and convey that to the viewer.
My formal art training was at the American Academy of Art in Chicago, studying both commercial and fine art. I fell in love with the challenge of watercolor under the instruction of Irving Shapiro. After 30 successful years in advertising, I wanted to be outside and discovered the joy of plein air painting. I travel and compete in juried plein air competitions, taking 1st place at the Cohansey Riverfest, 2nd place at Plein Air Brandywine Valley. People’s Choice award for Gallery 50’s Nature and the Landscape competition.
I exhibit my watercolor paintings in galleries and shows throughout the tri-state area. I enjoy giving watercolor demonstrations and teaching workshops in drawing and watercolor.
My work can be viewed at www.yvonnemucci.wordpress.com. I am an active in Gloucester County Art League, Salem County Art League, and Philadelphia Watercolor Society.
